moss vale recycled timber
OUR STORY
Moss Vale Recycled Timber and Building grew from a
simple conviction: too much good material was going to
waste. Hardwood beams from century-old buildings. Solid
bricks from demolished commercial buildings. Jarrah
floorboards ripped out of homes that were being gutted
and rebuilt. All of it destined for landfill.
We started collecting, sorting, and selling salvaged
materials from our base in Moss Vale — and the response
from the community told us we weren't the only ones who
saw the value in what others were throwing away.
Today we supply tradies, builders, architects, heritage
restorers, landscapers, and DIY homeowners across the
Southern Highlands, the Illawarra, and greater NSW.
Our yard is always evolving — new stock comes in
regularly, and no two visits are quite the same.
We're in the Business of
Second Chances…
Our Sourcing
Where Our Materials Come From…
We work with demolition contractors, property
developers, rural landowners, and estate clearances to
recover quality materials before they're lost. Our stock
has come from woolsheds, schools, hotels, churches,
factories, bridges, and homes — buildings that served
their communities well and have
more to give.
Every piece is inspected before it goes on the yard. We
label our timber clearly so you know what you're
getting, whether it's structural-grade hardwood or
rustic character pieces for a feature wall.
Our Values
What we believe…
•
Waste is a design problem, not an
inevitability.
•
Old materials often outperform new ones —
especially timber.
•
Honest advice builds better relationships than
a hard sell.
•
Supporting local projects, tradespeople, and
communities matters.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Recycling building materials provides major
environmental benefits by diverting solid waste
from landfills, conserving raw natural resources,
and significantly reducing greenhouse gas
(GHG) emissions compared to producing virgin
materials.
While most recycling requires energy and
generates emissions, the overall environmental
impact of re-using building materials is
drastically positive, especially with the products
we sell. They’re not being thrown away but are
reused and re-purposed.
Key Environmental Benefits include…
Lower Embodied Energy: Producing new
materials from scratch is highly energy-
intensive. Using recycled metals (like steel and
aluminium, timber, bricks, stone) reduces
embodied energy and GHG emissions by up to
95% compared to raw extraction.
Landfill Diversion: Construction and Demolition
(C&D) waste accounts for a massive portion of
global solid waste. Reusing and re-purposing
timber and building materials is the ultimate
win. The less that goes into landfill, the better!
Cost Savings to the Client: Waste disposal is
expensive! Tipping fees are in the vicinity of
$400/tonne for mixed building waste. Then
there’s the cost of skips. That can quickly add up
when demolishing or doing renovations. If you
have something worth saving, let us know.
We work with trades, architects, builders,
designers, restorers and home owners.
